History
Frank LING was born on December 31, 1922 as LING Fung, the Canadian-born son of a Halifax vegetable farmer named LING How. George Ling was Frank's paternal uncle who owned a farm near New Glasgow, Nova Scotia.
Despite his father’s insistence that he work on the family farm, as a teenager, Frank took training to be a commercial radio operator. He worked in Ottawa for the Department of Transport for most of his career and eventually became a senior technologist.
In 1946, Frank married Marie Stevenson, a woman of Norwegian descent who worked on Parliament Hill. The couple had one child, a daughter named Patsy.
Frank was described as a quiet and gentle soul.
