The collection consists of thirteen bound reports (and two addenda) of building specifications - heating and ventilation, architectural, and plumbing - for the following buildings: Chemistry (additions), Biological Sciences (additions), Men's Residence (Block 3), University Social Centre and Faculty Club, International House, and the New Arts Building Group (later the Buchanan Building). The reports were each prepared by either the mechanical engineering consulting firm of C.W. Thomson & Company Ltd, the University's architects Thompson, Berwick & Pratt, or Fred Lasserre, Koyander & Wright - Associated Architects.

The fonds consists of two series: Photographic and Audiovisual. The photographs were created by Information Services and Community Relations and were transferred to the University Archives by the Public Affairs Office. The photographs are 35 mm negative format and digital-born photos on optical discs. The images document a wide variety of important people, events and activities at the University of British Columbia between 1980 and 1991.

The video and audio recordings ([1966?]-2008) are of events on campus both at UBC Vancouver and Okanagan, including the announcement of the Okanagan campus. The material includes copies of media clips, promotional videos, speeches, the visit of dignitaries such as the Dalai Lama and stock footage. The audiovisual formats include VHS, DVD, Umatic, Betacam sp and unknown optical disc formats. Sound recordings are made up of cassette tapes and compact disc digital audio (CD-DA).

Most of the materials in the original accession were created by Information Services and Community Relations, the predecessor agencies of Public Affairs.

The fonds consists of copies of bylaws and constitutions, executive minutes (1951-1964), presidential reports (1954-1964), membership lists (1954-1964), correspondence (1959-1964) and assorted newsletters, clippings and printed material. Also included are small series of records generated by affiliate organizations including International House Association Inc., International House and Friendly Relations with Overseas Students' Council.

The collection consists of correspondence, printed material and clippings which document the early history of the International House movement on campus in the early 1950s. At that time, William Black was acting as faculty advisor to the International House Committee.

The fonds consists of records from International House (1955-1963) and the Board of Trustees of the International House Association (1953-1963) as well as assorted printed material generated by International House. The Collection also includes a scrapbook of early advertising memorabilia (1895-1900), a history of UBC's Department of Psychology, collected material pertaining to the Axis powers during World War II and an unidentified diary.
