Icelandic Lutheran Church subfonds

Subfonds reflects the history and evolution of the Icelandic Lutheran Church and its activities in the greater Vancouver community. The Women’s Auxiliary of the Icelandic Lutheran Church was very involved in the functioning of the institution; therefore many of the records document the initiatives that the Women’s Auxiliary of the Church’s undertook during the Church’s history through the extensive minutes they kept of their monthly meetings. Records also document the church’s founding and development.

Subfonds is divided into three series: Administrative records, Publications, and Photographs.

Manuscripts

File consists of various manuscripts including "Alexa's first journey into the great world," "As the shadows pass," "Ballad influence on the poetry of Scott," "The charm of Stanley Park," "A comparison between Chaucer's conception of life and moral system as shown in his "Troilus and Criseyde" with that of Henryson in his "Testament of Cresseid"," "Emerson in his lectures on "Representative Men"," "Fruit ranching in California," "Burns Night -- and a' that!," "The chivalry of Keith Leicester," "A South American sketch," and other written works.

Manuscripts

Series consists of manuscripts and sections of manuscripts from poems, novels, plays, essays, and other written works by Hood.

Files consisting of many short texts, or untitled texts, have simply been named "Manuscripts." In all other cases, existing file names have been respected or, where available, have been attributed by the archivist according to the manuscript contained in the file.

Photo collection

This series consists of approximately 500 prints and photos of immigrants and their institutions in U.S. and Canada. There is an index list with names, when available, that accompanies this series.
