The collection is an assemblage of movie memorabilia (predominantly Noir and Western), 20cm x 25cm film-stills, 28 cm x 36 cm lobby cards, and ephemera amassed by Thompson as a part of her research for her books Hard-Boiled and Tall in the Saddle. Additionally, there are Science Fiction stills and posters, Spanish-language lobby cards, 36cm x 91cm insert posters, and miscellaneous stills from other 20th-century cinema.

The fonds consists of records generated through the various activities of the Ceremonies Office. Included in the fonds are administrative records (1964-1984) as well as records that document the activities associated with Congregation (1950-2006), building openings (1951-1986) and numerous functions sponsored by the University (1962-1995). The fonds consists of a variety of materials, but the focus is the creative writing of Bullock, in many genres. Represented in collections are prose and poetry, both published and unpublished, along with hundreds of individual works, covering not only poetry and prose poems, but academic essays, autobiographical accounts, and plays, as well as a prodigious amount of notes. The fonds also contains material relating to Bullocks work as a translator and includes a variety of genres translated into English from the original French, German, or Italian. The fonds also includes correspondence of both a professional and personal nature. The correspondence from 1935 illustrates the business life of a professional writer; it also contains a wealth of personal correspondence that helps solidify Bullock's stature as a writer both locally and internationally. Impressive figures such as Marcel Bealu, Max Frisch, and Joy Kogawa are intermingled with less well-known artists, friends, and family in the correspondence, and provide valuable commentary, over nearly 70 years, into the creative path chosen by Bullock.

The logbooks and trip registers chronicle the general activities of the Varsity Outdoor Club and the activities at their various cabin locations, with comments by many who use the facilities. The files on meeting minutes contain minutes and sometimes copies of the VOCene, the club's newsletter, or advertisement and informational material related to the organization's activities. The photograph albums include black and white and coloured prints from several decades of the club's existence.

Also included are typed manuscripts of poems and short stories, a longer typescript entitled "Kootenay Chronicle," a copy of the Academic Policy Committee Report - UBC (1963). The correspondence and clippings were gathered during Cottingham's term as president of the BCTeachers Federation, and material relating to women's issues (1952-1963).

Fonds consists of a hard-cover autograph book, inscribed on the frontispiece “Helen A. Cook – June 1924 – Anyox, B.C.”. It is filled with inscriptions by Cook’s friends from her times at St. George’s School (1925), North Vancouver High School (1926), U.B.C.(1927), and the Provincial Normal School or “PP.N.S. (1928). In addition to signatures, there are poems, literary quotes, small watercolours, and sketches.

The materials document the professional life and world travel of an independent woman in the first half of the twentieth century. Record types include diplomas and certificates of nursing, travel documents including Taylor's passport and visas, correspondence related to job openings, as well as Taylor's written exam for obtaining a drivers' license in Durban, South Africa.

Fonds consists of a “transit book” – a bound notebook used by Hal Norman for notes and measurements taken during his Surveying course in 1923 – and three maps of UBC’s Fairview and Point Grey campuses, hand-drawn in 1923 and plotted in 1976.

Sedgewick's English courses. The latter items document teaching and note-taking methods from the 1920s, particularly those practiced in Sedgewick's classes.

Some outside correspondence addressed to his wife Frances after his death is also included.
