Alsop Research

Contains correspondence, photocopies, newspaper clippings, notes and draft manuscripts compiled by Alsop in the course of her research for a biography of McPherson. Intermingled with Alsop’s research documents are other records kept by McPherson during his career that were later used by Alsop as part of her research. There are significant records from McPherson’s period as custodian of enemy property as well as a type-written transcript of a lengthy oral recording describing the McPherson family in detail.

Alston v. Bagnall

File consists of six documents: Agreement for Arbitration; Affidavit of Execution of Agreement to Arbitrate; Affidavit of Service;
Rule; Declaration; and Insurance that the submission herein be made a Rule of the Court. Alston and others guaranteed to the Bank of British North America an open credit for twelve months not to exceed the sum of $1,500 in favor of J. Bagnall. To secure payment of such guarantee, J. Bagnall executed a Bill of Sale of certain pianos and the amount of such sale was placed to the credit of J. Bagnall. Alston claims to have paid the Bank $293 on behalf of the guarantee and seeks action to recover the rest against J. Bagnall.

Alumni Association Annual Dinner series

Series consists of 28 videotapes (beta masters and VHS copies) that document the Alumni members honoured at the annual Alumni Dinner. This event has also often been combined with the yearly UBC Sports Hall of Fame inductions.

The fonds consists mainly of records generated by the Alumni Association in the course of its programs and activities and by its branches and divisions. The records are in the form of correspondence, reports, minutes of meetings, manuscripts for The Chronicle, and some published materials. Also included in the fonds are materials of historical interest collected by Frances Tucker in the course of her research for a history of the Association published for its fiftieth anniversary in 1966; these consist of written notes, clippings and other published materials, scrapbooks, photographs, correspondence, the first draft of her project, and index cards. Finally, the records of Harry Franklin, Executive Director from 1972 to 1979, are included; the files contain some Association records as well as Franklin's. Records stored in boxes 1-20 date from 1911 to 1966, and the rest date from 1955 to 1992. Because of the long time period between the accessions of these two bodies of records, and their different organization, they have not been physically integrated. Wherever possible, their original order has been maintained or restored. Alumni Association History Files series

Series consists of correspondence, minutes of meetings, drafts, clippings, notes, reports, scrapbooks, and programs relating to historical research carried out by members of the Alumni Association. Also included are items of a general historical nature acquired by the Association from its members. The series consists of photographs, a photograph album, negatives, an audiotape recording, "Songs of UBC," two videotapes, and several UBC commemorative pins and buttons. The series contains four subseries: Miscellaneous Historical Materials, Frances Tucker's Research Files, Muriel Clark's Memorabilia, and Musical Society Heritage Committee subseries.

The collection reflects the genealogical interests of its collector, Robert Alvey, with a particular focus on the life of his first cousin once removed, A. Alexis Alvey, and on the movements and history of various Alvey family members. The collection consists mainly of correspondence between Robert Alvey and A. Alexis Alvey; other types of materials in the collection include photographs of Alvey family members, correspondence, newspaper clippings, reproductions of historical military certificates, and a miniature book created by Eva Louise Alvey Richards.
