The correspondence is informally arranged within a classification system that was inconsistently applied and developed until 1964. Two reference sheets for the subject classification system remain for 1956 and 1963 and are included in the first file for each of those two years. Many of the headings reflect the categories used by the Department of Agronomy. Intermingled with the files of the division are some of the faculty papers of V.C. Brink, the chair of the division. In 1964, the entire system appears to have broken down. From 1964 to 1970 all the division correspondence files were stored in unlabelled file folders the vast majority of which exhibited no internal coherence. Because of the presence of Brink's faculty papers in the files, and because of the absence of the division's classification system, the records from 1964 to 1970 have been arranged and described with Brink's personal papers. For a complete understanding of the functions and activities of the division, these records must also be consulted.

Fonds consists of course materials, correspondence, subject files, reports, clippings, printed material, and index cards, relating to Hutchinson's work with the UBC Department of Biology and Botany. The fonds reflects his research interests, which included studies of conifers, forest ecology and tree genetics, particularly of the Douglas fir; to a limited extent, his personal life is also documented. The fonds also includes approximately 3,600 photographic negatives and prints (most black and white, some in colour), 1,200 lantern slides, and some transparencies. The photographs are mainly microscopic images of plants and trees in British Columbia, Mexico, Cuba, Florida and South Africa in the early part of the twentieth century. There is also a photograph album accompanying Hutchinson's report Grazing Lands in British Columbia. Finally, there are maps, charts, and diagrams, which are listed and stored separately.

This correspondence provides significant information about Spencer's research at the University as well as the study of entomology in British Columbia. The collection of papers of William Brenton Burnett consists mainly of autograph letters, typescripts of addresses, notebooks and documents. These relate to Dr. Burnett’s life as a student at Acadia University and at McGill University, and as a teacher and physician in Vancouver, British Columbia. The principal part of the collection deals with the early years of the period covered (1891-1964). A number of diplomas accompany these papers.

The fonds consists of minutes, correspondence, reports and constitutions generated by the Social Science Research Institute and its predecessor, the Institute of Social and Economic Research (1958-1963).

The fonds consist of records relating to Clemens' research and his positions with the Pacific Biological Station of the Biological Board of Canada and the University of British Columbia and material relating to the research activities of other scholars in the areas of oceanography, fisheries and zoology. Fonds reflects E.M. Delafield's career and interests as a writer and lecturer in the early decades of the twentieth century. Some of the items in the fonds were also made or received by persons related to E.M. Delafield. Textual records in the fonds consist of letters related to Delafield's research and writing on the British author Charlotte Yonge and unpublished manuscripts, plays, short articles, book reviews, and lectures written by Delafield pertaining to her interests in Charlotte Yonge, women, religion, the lives of the British upper class, and other subjects. The fonds also includes clippings, obituary notices, photographs, and records related to the writings of Lorna Lewis. Fonds consists of seven series: Incoming letters; Manuscripts; Lecture notes; Newspaper clippings; Personal photographs; Records related to Lorna Lewis; and Outgoing letters.

The fonds consists of copies of Todd's articles (1915-1952), Todd family genealogies and a handwritten travel journal and accompanying photograph album from a trip to Europe, Egypt and Greece (1923).

The collection consists of diaries (1909-1922, 1924-1961), notebooks, copies of sermons, and miscellaneous materials related to Shimizu’s religious work and personal life. Many of the documents reflect his involvement with church congregations and Japanese-Canadian relations.

Fonds consists of records relating to Dr. Harry Mark Draggatt's philatelic interests and contains biographical information about Dr. Daggett including his birth certificate, grade school and high school report cards, University Diplomas, and a number of photographs. The fonds is made up of three series as determined by the creator. The series are Literature Study Group, BA Clips, and Personal.

Fonds consists of several essays and one publication. It includes an annotated copy of a paper written by St. Clair-Sobell, an essay about Leo Tolstoy, a biography of Ornest D. Durnovo with related correspondence, and written remarks by a Soviet commentator on one of St. Clair-Sobell's papers. The publication is a course calendar from Karl-Franzens-Reichsuniversitat (University of Graz, in Austria) for the winter semester 1944/45.

Collection consists of materials acquired by Peter Moogk and used in his research and his teaching activities. Four photocopied maps of the World War II Point Grey artillery battery were acquired by him from the Canadian Department of National Defence during research for his book Vancouver Defended. The remaining items – loose photographs, UBC publications, and a photograph album – were purchased by Moogk at collectors‘ shows and used as teaching materials for his UBC course History 304 “Local History from the Ground Up”. Some of the latter materials are of uncertain provenance; the photograph album has been identified as originally belonging to Jean Woodrow (Arts ’26).

The fonds consists primarily of material accumulated during a survey of Hong Kong undertaken by the Department of Geology between 1923 and 1933. Fonds consists of personal documents created and kept by Stefan Arnason, mostly in the form of diaries which document his family’s life from 1936 until his death in 1956. Some earlier diary entries, from 1906-1912, document Arnason’s life before his marriage, in Winnipeg and Piney. Diary entries pay particular attention to employment, family occasions and important events, and the weather. Fonds also contains some loose correspondence and notes, and several notebooks which appear to have been used during Arnason’s school days (including one “Nokkur sönglög,” containing Icelandic songs).

Fonds consists of ephemera collected by UBC Alumus Zonia Sekora, including English Lit 100 & 101 exam papers, Mathematics 101, Notice of Admission, Frosh Orientation schedule, Panhellenic Rushing at UBC and miscellaneous ephemera, including non-UBC items.

The fonds includes individual photographs and a photograph album depicting locations of the lower mainland and Vancouver Island, student group photographs and images of family members and individuals. The textual records pertain to the personal correspondence of the members of the Wilkinson family, school records, an appointment book, a diary, sketchbooks of international travel, personal financial records and statistical records relating to British Columbia logging practices.

The Uno Langmann Family Collection of B.C. Photographs, donated by Uno and Dianne Langmann and Uno Langmann Limited, consists of more than 20,000 rare and unique early photographs from the 1850s to the 1970s. It is considered the premiere private collection of early provincial photos, and an important illustrated history of early photographic methods. The photographs were taken by a wide range of photographers. Some well-known photographers represented in the collection include William Notman, Charles MacMunn, Frederick Dally, Charles Horetzky, Charles Gentile, Philip Timms, Yucho Chow, R. Maynard, and Leonard Frank.

The Department of Dairying was part of the Faculty of Agriculture from 1916 to 1955.
