Series includes documentation of general administrative activities of the Division of Industrial Education. The bulk of the series consists of documentation relating to the origin and history of the Division, records such as memorandum and correspondence documenting the relationship and exchange with the Department of Education of British Columbia, documentation regarding the facility and equipment, and correspondence, newspapers, and other records concerning the Industrial Education Program, and some of its the problems. The series also contains documentation of the Division’s daily activities, such as faxes and petty cash. Most of the files are dated from the 1960, 1970, and 1980s. The files have been re-organized in roughly chronological order.

There is much correspondence in many different forms, detailed accounts of what Peterat did for in the Department in the form of both her university cv and official accounting of her work, many of the certificates and awards that she received, and information related to her education for the University of Alberta. The series also contains photographs of Peterat and much information and photos from the Intergenerational Landed Learning project she led from 2002-2007.

Saltzman was president of ACTRA-Toronto in 1960. Materials include scripts, contracts, correspondence, and legal documents.

Series consists of inactive files of awards which are still active in some capacity. Files are arranged alphabetically by the name of the award. As with the Discontinued Awards series, there is often historical information as to the background of the establishment of the awards and information about the recipients of the awards included. Much of this series is the Mackenzie King Scholarships (Open and Travel scholarships) which is funded by the trust of the late former Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. W.L. Mackenzie King (1874-1950). The files contain correspondence between UBC and the winners of the award between 1965-2001, information on the scholarship committee and financial information related to the scholarship.

The Acquisitions Division was established in 1948, with Samuel Rothstein as its head. It was designated to handle all accessions (books and periodicals), regardless of source (purchase, gift, or exchange), and administer the disposal of duplicate materials. A separate Serials Division was established in 1950 to handle periodicals and the Gifts and Exchanges Division in 1965. In 1991 the Division, together with the Serials Division, was reorganized to form the Order Division and the Collections Accounting and Budget, Division.
The sous-fonds consists of records generated by the Acquisitions Division and includes annual reports and correspondence with publishers, booksellers, and donors and a series related to UBC’s involvement with SHASTRI.
