Jeanne Robinson and Nova Dance Theatre

Subfonds contains material pertaining to Jeanne Robinson's dance career. Records primarily regard the development of the Nova Dance Theatre, a modern dance company in Halifax, NS of which Robinson was the founder, director, and resident choreographer during its entire existence.

Nursing Educational Council of British Columbia

Subfonds consists of two boxes of records generated by the Nursing Educational Council between 1978 and 2005 through their meetings and interactions among themselves and with different levels of government. Records include discussions of issues related to standardizing the education of nurses and the equitable provision of nursing care throughout BC. Committee records include the Task Committee on Competency Based Curriculum, the Task Committee on Mandatory Registration, and the Entry to Practice Steering Committee.

Pediatric Nurses' Group

The subfonds consists of two boxes of records dating from 1982 to 2004. These include copies of by-laws, descriptions of executive roles, newsletters, and other administrative records. Minutes of meetings and financial reports that include ledgers and budgets document the activities of the organization. Correspondence consists of both general communications and correspondence related to the PNG bursary fund. Membership lists and other materials are included, as are records related to the various conferences hosted by the Pediatric Nurses’ Group.

Scandinavian Cultural Society subfonds

Subfonds reflects the Scandinavian Cultural Society’s (SCS) efforts to promote and support Scandinavian cultural events and activities in the greater Vancouver area, most notably the Scandinavian Festival 1986. Under SCS’s constitution, they hold executive meetings to also organize and promote other cultural events and communicate to their community through newsletters. SCS was founded to help celebrate Vancouver’s Centennial and Expo ’86; therefore, many of their records document the administration, communications, publicity, and promotions arising from planning the event as well as the event itself.

Subfonds is divided into four series: Events and activities, Publications, Administrative records, and Photographs.

Sharron J. Simpson sous fonds

Sous fonds consists of documentation of Sharron J. Simpson’s activities between the years of approximately 1994 to 2011. Sous fonds is predominantly concerned with Sharron J. Simpson’s leadership in the Simpson Covenant court case in 2007 and 2008, as well as the compilation of her personal family research and a few writing samples. In addition, an aggregation of photographs related to her activities is also included.

Global Health Interest Group

The subfonds consists of 9.8 cm of textual records dating from 1990-2009. By-laws and records of annual and executive meetings include meeting attendance records and other information. Extensive documentation of the partnership with Brazil and the “Living and Nursing Overseas” workshop are included, along with information on other partnerships and projects in Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Nepal, Afghanistan, and other locations. Newsletters from 1991-2008 document other activities.

Glennis Zilm

Subfonds consists of records, photographs and audiovisual materials relating to Glennis Zilm's personal and professional involvements. These include her CV and several articles she authored and co-authored. Materials related to various presentations and lectures she prepared on the history of several hospital nursing schools and historic nursing uniforms. Photographs related to awards she received and nursing uniforms worn by Zilm and others.

Subfonds consists of two centimeters of records dating from 1997 to 1999. They include correspondence, conference programs for the 1997 International Conference in Vancouver, and newspaper and journal article clippings.

Ströndin Internet Radio subfonds

Subfonds consists of material made or received by Ströndin Internet Radio used to make Ströndin Internet Radio’s various programs in the course of promoting Icelandic culture to its listenership. It includes scripts and recordings of the first six radio programmes, reference material such as concert programmes and manuscripts. Also included are reference materials on audio cassettes and in photographs.

Icelandic Lutheran Church subfonds

Subfonds reflects the history and evolution of the Icelandic Lutheran Church and its activities in the greater Vancouver community. The Women’s Auxiliary of the Icelandic Lutheran Church was very involved in the functioning of the institution; therefore many of the records document the initiatives that the Women’s Auxiliary of the Church’s undertook during the Church’s history through the extensive minutes they kept of their monthly meetings. Records also document the church’s founding and development.

Subfonds is divided into three series: Administrative records, Publications, and Photographs.

Garrick Chu subfonds

Sub-series consists of records and photographs that belonged to Garrick Chu, including records from the Chinese Cultural Centre in Vancouver, film projects and interviews conducted by Garrick Chu, correspondence, photographs taken by Garrick Chu, materials collected about activities and events in Asian American communities in San Francisco, California, and the state of Washington, Asian Canadian communities especially the Chinese Canadian community in Vancouver, as well as records pertaining to social issues and activism that Garrick Chu was engaged in.

McPherson Family

Contains two scrapbooks. One was compiled by Ewan Macpherson while the other contains material from the McPherson family dating as far back as the 1860s.

Alsop Research

Contains correspondence, photocopies, newspaper clippings, notes and draft manuscripts compiled by Alsop in the course of her research for a biography of McPherson. Intermingled with Alsop’s research documents are other records kept by McPherson during his career that were later used by Alsop as part of her research. There are significant records from McPherson’s period as custodian of enemy property as well as a type-written transcript of a lengthy oral recording describing the McPherson family in detail.
