The papers also include almost 200 photographs, mostly snapshots, of Verner, friends and colleagues dating from the 1920s to 1979 and over 400 historical maps of North America, the Arctic and Asia, 1550-19__. Professor Verner organized his files into three subject areas relating to his work and interests: Personal, ca. 1921-1979, Adult Education, 1940s-1978, and Cartography, 1949- 1979. This arrangement has been maintained. Files within the three series are organized into sub-series, the order reflecting as closely as could be ascertained the original order of the papers as set up by Verner. In some cases this was difficult to determine as the materials were received as separate accessions over a number of years. In most cases the files are identified as Verner labeled them.

The fonds consists of material related to David Aberle's research activities, academic work and writing. It includes the notebooks and journals of his fieldwork beginning in 1940-41 and continuing through 1991. These consist primarily of field notes and other notes made during and after those trips. The vast majority of this material relates to Aberle's work with the Navajo in Arizona. The fonds also includes notes, articles, data and codes relating to Aberle's research into kinship and language among the Navajo, Mongols and Athapaskans, and extensive research into Navajo culture and economy. The fonds also includes correspondence on a variety of academic subjects, including Aberle's teaching materials from UBC's Department of Anthropology and Sociology. His work includes several reports written as part of the Navajo-Hopi land dispute. The fonds includes research notes for many of Aberle's essays and articles, as well as chapters and appendixes of his books.

Fonds consists of material documenting Ian Slater's writing career. It includes 80 5 ¼ inch computer floppy disks containing different versions in digital format of Slater's works of fiction dating from 1981 to 1998. All digital manuscripts were originally typed in plain-text format on DOS 3.1 or 3.2. The fonds also includes a heavily-annotated copy of the second (2003) edition of Slater's Orwell: The Road To Airstrip One.

Fonds consists of textual and audiovisual material relating to the production of the movie "Manufacturing Consent: Noam Chomsky and the Media", released in 1992, and the companion book by Mark Achbar published in 1994. The filmmakers chose to capture
the majority of their work on film, rather than video, for several reasons. Firstly, during the 1980’s, video resolution was significantly lower than film negative and in an effort to ensure the image resolution was high film was chosen as the predominant medium.
As well, the NFB (National Film Board) was equipped primarily for film shooting, processing and editing. Finally, the motivation to participate in film festivals, which wanted film rather than video, compelled the filmmakers to use film as their medium. Some small format video, captured using rented broadcast quality video gear, was used for long talks or events which would have been uneconomical to shoot in film. The audiovisual material includes original camera negatives, audio and video tapes and sound bites used as research material and in the making of the film as well as some post-production rough cuts, alternative versions and promotional material relating to the distribution of the film and subsequent video. The textual material includes pre and post-production materials as well as production logs and graphical materials. Much of the post-production material relates to the promotion of the film and the media coverage of the film and of Noam Chomsky.

Fonds consists of textual material related to the teaching and academic work of Morehart at UBC, as well as personal research and publications. There are also materials from Morehart’s personal life, including artwork, which consists primarily of several canvas boards and other flat materials, and personal correspondence. Materials include handwritten notes, printed documents, publications, photocopies of publications and articles, original artwork, journals, and the contents of several binders. Folder names are primarily taken from original folders. Also included are a folder of tributes written after Lehmann's death, and some personal correspondence addressed to Joanna Lehmann.

The fonds consists of handwritten minutes from a special meeting (March 1917) of the Class of 1916 at which members discussed the possibility of establishing an Alumni Association. Also included are two scrapbooks. The first, assembled by A. Irene (Vermilyea) Menzies in 1972, provides information about the class's members after graduation, university faculty, and the early history of the university, handwritten with newspaper clippings. The second scrapbook includes biographical information about early UBC graduates from 1916 to 1922 – handwritten, with clippings from Annual yearbooks.

The collection comprises records acquired by Peter Moogk about aspects of British Columbia’s history, including the British Columbia Electric Railway Company’s interurban train lines (predominantly from 1909-1958), and photographic representations of persons (especially white settlers, from 1870-1960), places, events and activities in the province.

The focus of the third series, Photos of places, streets, and architecture in British Columbia, is photographs of structures and places of British Columbia, notably building exteriors and interiors, and street views from 1880-1959.

The fourth series, Photos of events and activities in British Columbia, includes photos of notable events and public activities (predominantly dating 1911-1941), as well as everyday life, and also includes handwritten and photocopied information on the provenance of the photos and activities depicted.

The fifth series, British Columbia ephemera, is mostly paper ephemera representing the variety of business and activity in the province from 1890 to 1990, and includes menus, theatre programs, business correspondence, and Chinese textbooks as well as some photographic materials.

The sixth series, Records from British Columbia Penitentiary, includes textual records and photographs relating to the British Columbia penitentiary.

Also included are annotated copies of Adaskin's two autobiographies: A Fiddler's World (published in 1977), and A Fiddler's Choice (1982). Some outside correspondence addressed to his wife Frances after his death is also included. The professional records chronicle both his involvement in numerous local, national, and international organizations (including the Academic Board for Higher Education in British Columbia, the Regional Training Centre for United Nations Fellows, the Social Science Research Council of Canada, the Pacific Sciences Association, UNESCO, and the Canadian Sociology and Anthropology Association), and his teaching and administrative activities at UBC. The fonds consist of preliminary and working set design construction drawings and sketches for several productions on which David Fischer worked. It also contains show books that highlight his work. Highlights of the set designs in this fonds include his work on Shiney’s Head, Lonesome Dove The Series, Harvey, The Beachcombers, and Burton Cummings Going For Gold – a CBC production.

These sketches were commissioned for an article on UBC in the ILN, 22 September 1956 (pages 467-470). Some have captions or notes attached, and notes on the verso regarding those printed in the ILN. The Library acquired them in January 1991. The drawings include the UBC Library's interior, the Library from the outside, the exterior of the Science Building, view looking north from the top of the Science Building, Brock Hall, the War Memorial Gym, the Wesbrook building, and an experiment in a laboratory in the Science Building.
