The fonds consists of records of the Vancouver Women's Committee of the NDP (1961-1963). It consists of a handwritten minute book into which have been inserted some loose typed and handwritten material, chiefly correspondence, and some lists of names.

The fonds consists of a typescript history of the Vancouver YMCA, four volumes of minutes (1899-1921, 1940-1945) and two volumes of minutes of the Y's Men's Club (1922-1925). Some printed material is interleafed with the first minute book.

The records of Gary Lauk and his Executive Assistants Eric Green and Albert Mellul, are described in this finding aid. They were created in the course of the operations of the Minister's Office during the New Democratic Party (NDP) administration of government. The majority of the material pertains to Lauk's term of office as the Minister of Economic Development (1973-75), Minister of Mines and Petroleum Resources (October - December, 1975), and as Education Critic (1976-1982). Some material predates Lauk's appointment and relates to his responsibilities as a MLA.

Much of the material given in the initial donation deals with the direction given to the Department of Economic Development in its activities of promoting the economic development and diversification of BC while much of the material in the subsequent donation deals with the Education sector in BC from the mid 1970s to the early 1980s. Other records deal with the Lauk's communications with the British Columbia Cabinet and with the NDP party of Canada. A smaller amount of material relates to Lauk's role as a member of the NDP Caucus and the MLA for Vancouver Centre and a few files are of a personal nature.

The records have been arranged into three series: MLA for the Governing Party; Executive assistant to Lauk; and MLA for the Official Opposition Party. Within the first series are subseries of government department and subject files, as well as outgoing correspondence and Printed reference material. In addition, a subseries titled General government files, has been created of the documents that accumulated unfiled, while Lauk was Minister of Mines and during the provincial election.

The Executive Assistant to Lauk series contains two subseries: Subject files and Outgoing correspondence.

The MLA for the Official Opposition Party series contains Lauk's records that he acquired and/or accumulated during the time period from 1976-1985. The series contains four subseries including Education Critic; Subject files; Correspondence; and General government files.

The records largely consist of typewritten documents, such as correspondence, memoranda, briefings, minutes and itineraries. The records also contain printed materials such as press kits, new releases, brochures, newsletters, and newsclippings. Also included are a substantial amount of published and unpublished studies, reports, and proposals produced by the Department of Economic Development or by the other government departments and non-governmental agencies. The non-textual materials include an album of colour photoprints of the BC government's delegation trip to Japan, which Lauk was a part of, as well as a number of loose colour and black and white photoprints.

The fonds also contains correspondence files of Leo Nimsick (1972-1973), Lauk's predecessor as Minister of Mines and Petroleum. Lauk acquired these papers when he was appointed Minister.

The fonds consists of records created and compiled by Gladstone Murray and the Responsible Enterprise association. Records are related to the annual dinners (1959-1961) put on by the association, as well as printed materials published or collected by the association. In order to reflect this the fonds is divided into two series: Annual Dinner series and Printed Materials series. Record types in the Annual dinner series include minutes, correspondence and reports. Records in the Printed Materials series include cartoons, newsletters, bulletins, and magazine articles.

The fonds consists of a bound volume of 35 letters to Ewing Buchan from dealers in the sterling exchange stating their pleasure or criticism with the sample sheet sent to them about a new edition of Buchan's Exchange Tables. Correspondence comprises letters sent from banking institutions and brokerage firms in Toronto, New York, Montreal, Yarmouth, Halifax, Hamilton and Windsor, N.S.

The fonds consists primarily of clippings and articles relating to international affairs, Chinese customs preserved in Canada, life in Vancouver's China Town and social and political problems confronted by Chinese Canadians. Further, the fonds also contains many complete copies of the Chinatown newspaper, The Chinese Voice; records related to Foon Sien Wong's Chinatown activities through the Vancouver Unity Association, the Canadian Centennial Planning Committee, and other related groups.

Fonds consists of records related to Robert Duncan’s role as producer of the National Film Board of Canada’s documentary "Volcano: An Inquiry into the Life and Death of Malcolm Lowry" (1976). Principal work on the film spanned from 1974 to 1976.

Textual records in the fonds consist of transcripts of interviews conducted for the documentary and documents related to planning, research, production, and post-production activities for the film. Interview transcripts are arranged by film roll number and chronological order. Film production documents include correspondence, financial documents, forms, memoranda, notes, schedules, permits, promotional materials, ephemera, film proposals, copies of newspaper articles, and other material. Photographs include black and white stills of Lowry and his friends and family used in the film, as well as black and white prints of behind-the-scenes photographs taken during filming. Film production documents are arranged in loose chronological order or based on the creator’s original arrangement. The fonds consists primarily of Alan Haig-Brown's written and photographic works on the marine industry in Canada and internationally. Photographs document ships and boats, maritime scenes and personalities in fishing and ship-building. The geographical scope of the photographs includes British Columbia, Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California and Hawaii; Southern Coastal US (Texas and Louisiana); Thailand, China, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines; Netherlands; Brazil.

Textual records include annotated drafts for several of Haig-Brown's books, hand-written notes, newspaper clippings, design schematics and correspondence.

The fonds also contains audio recordings of interviews and oral histories with figures in the maritime trades.

The fonds consists of records reflecting both Cameron's involvement with and perceptions of the Pioneer Strike. Clippings, minutes, correspondence, photographs and printed material record union and personal involvement in the strike and retrospective notes on events of the incident are included. Records include materials related to Johnson’s service as President of the British Columbia Young New Democrats in 1970 and his own campaigns running as the NDP candidate for Federal Member of Parliament in the riding of Vancouver Centre in the 1970s. Records also include his collection of campaign and labour ephemera, predominantly from the 1960s and 1970s, and materials representing Johnson’s communications and strategy work on numerous political campaigns from the 1960s through the 1980s.

Fonds consists of correspondence, photographs, clippings, artifacts, publications, legal documents, notes, transcripts of lectures and broadcasts, examinations, certificates, and other miscellaneous items. Most of the material was created and collected by Sedgewick himself and a small amount was collected by friends including Robert apRoberts after Sedgewick's death.

The records document Chambers' activities in three research projects that all attempt to reconcile the disputes between preservation and development interests in resource management. The first project is documented extensively. The last two projects offer only a glimpse into the response of the Nazko-Kluskus First Nations to the issues raised in the Purcell study. These papers offer valuable evidence of the continuing conflict surrounding resource management and First Nations land rights in B.C. and Chambers's role in attempting to find a resolution. There are three series of records that correspond to these three projects. Because the original order has been lost, it has been reconstructed with reference to the functions and activities of each project. Files within each series have been arranged in chronological order. Undated documents have been placed at the back of each file.

Fonds includes correspondence, reports, minutes, notes, photographs, drafts of Johns' unfinished autobiography and related papers, and manuscripts of a considerable number of her articles and speeches the majority of which were published. Among the letters here included are those which Johns wrote to Eileen C. Flanagan during the period 1949-1967, and which the latter has donated.
