The fonds consists of Gibbard's research notes for his M.A. thesis entitled, "The History of the Fraser Valley, 1808-1885" (ca. 1937), copies of his book reviews (1974-1986), a typescript of "Living together in our modern world" and other material collected by Gibbard.

The contents of this collection pertain to the Santo Tomas Interment Camp in the Philippines during WWII. The camp was active from 1942 to 1945 and housed over 4,000 prisoners-of-war.

The Ministry of Forests Lands and Water Resources Records series relates to Williams's time spent on the provincial cabinet working under the government of Dave Barret. Records consist primarily of correspondence, especially between Williams and major corporations and individuals in the forest industry. Other records include reports, studies, news clippings, bills and acts, speeches, presentation materials, and transcripts.

The Crown Corporations records series is comprised of documents stemming from Williams' activities as chair of ICBC, and his work in the Crown Corporations. Many records relate to the construction of Surrey City Centre. Record types include correspondence, reports, legal documents, and news clippings.

The Business, Personal and Academic Records series contains records related Williams’ business career, personal memories and diaries, pictures and travel memorabilia, and his experiences meeting other politicians. Record types include planning consultant studies, correspondence, interviews, and materials from his academic career including course outlines and reading lists.

The contents of the fonds pertain to the life and work of Crawford Kilian. Materials include research and planning for novels, published and unpublished manuscripts, originals of published columns, personal and professional correspondence and appointment books. The focuses of Kilian’s writing are science fiction, educational systems and teaching, cultural issues and history, the economy, the environment, and technological developments, specifically the Internet. Writing material included in this fonds ranges from the 1960’s to the 2000’s. Other included material relates to Kilian’s time spent in China as an English teacher. The type of material in the fonds is primarily handwritten and typed paper records, but also includes newspaper, compact discs and publications.

Fonds consists of materials documenting the activities of the National Association of Japanese Canadians (NAJC) during four general time periods: the pre-redress period (including records by the National Japanese Canadian Citizens’ Association before it became the NAJC), the birth and development of the redress movement in the 1980s, the implementation of redress following the September 1988 settlement (1988 – 1992), and the post-implementation period (1993-present). The fonds has been arranged in the following seven series: NAJC Presidents, NAJC Business, Conferences and Other Events, Finance, Communications, Community Development, and Reference Material.

Fonds consists of records documenting the programs and activities of the Radio Society / CiTR (including DISCORDER), including textual records and sound recordings of a variety of programs, radio plays, campus events, public service announcements, photographs of the radio studio and from different events, and advertisements produced by the Radio Society for broadcast on its station (CYVR/CiTR) or affiliated radio stations. In addition, the fonds includes recordings of interviews conducted on behalf of the Alma Mater society relating to its art collection. Fonds also consists of materials related to the administration of the radio station including information about licensing, executive meetings, policies, job descriptions, and staff training.

The fonds consists of the incoming correspondence to Joan Gillis from a group of young Japanese Canadians she met while attending Queen Elizabeth Secondary School in Surrey. The fonds includes 149 letters and 10 small photographs, referred to colloquially as ‘snaps’ in the letters, sent from a total of 13 different correspondents. The majority of the correspondence took place during 1942 to 1946, with different friends writing from farms and work camps in Northern British Columbia, Manitoba, and Alberta. The letters provide insight into the Japanese Canadian internment, which occurred against the backdrop of a larger cultural context. Since the early 1900s Japanese immigrants and persons of Japanese descent living in Canada were subject to racially targeted legislation, including limits on immigration, limits on fishing licenses, and being denied the right to vote based on racial status.

In the spring of 1941 the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) fingerprinted and registered all Japanese Canadians over the age 16, who were required to carry identification cards until 1949. Following Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941, Canada declared war on Japan. The Royal Canadian Navy impounded the fishing boats of the Japanese Canadian fishing community, and within two months 1,200 Japanese Canadian owned boats were sold. On February 24th 1942 the federal government authorized the removal of all persons of Japanese origin, and gave the RCMP the power to search without warrant, to impose a dawn to dusk curfew, and to confiscate all cars, radios, firearms, and cameras. Mass forced dispersal and dispossession ensued, with all Japanese Canadians being sent to internment camps, to work on farms, and perform other forms of hard labor, living in very poor conditions through the much colder winters of Canada’s interior.
The letter-writers discuss their day-to-day life at the camps, living and working conditions, their new schools and teachers, and ask after Gillis’ life in Surrey and the on-goings at Queen Elizabeth (Q.E.) secondary school.
Gillis kept the correspondence bound in twine or ribbon, which is also included in the fonds. A government censor opened and read many, if not all of the letters, and many of the envelopes bear a sticker or stamp marking this. Many of the letters are hand-written, some are typed, and some are written on postcards. Listed at the file level is the full name of each correspondent and his or her specific geographical location.

The fonds contains correspondence, drafts of Luft’s books and papers, mathematical proofs and notes of Luft’s concepts, notes on the work of other mathematicians work, work records about Luft’s time at UBC, records created while Luft was a student, and ephemera. Fonds consists of records documenting Richard Mattessich’s professional career, including his writing, research, and teaching activities, as well as his personal life. The fonds of the Faculty of Medicine includes records which document the administrative and operational activities, actions and interests of the Faculty. Such records pertain to the establishment and organization of the Faculty; the development and actions of the Facultys governing bodies and committees; the planning, development and construction of various Faculty buildings such as the University Hospital, the I.R.C. Centre, the Basic Medical Sciences buildings and the Health Sciences Centre. These records also refer to the use of regional hospitals as clinical teaching hospitals and to relations between the Faculty and the University at large; as well as, with other university medical schools, governments, medical and related professions, associations and societies, businesses and hospitals. The records within this fonds also pertain to the Facultys receipt of gifts and donations, its departmental / divisional research endeavors and it applications for, and receipt of, awards for professional distinction. Fonds consists of laboratory manuals published by the UBC Department of Physics between 1949 and 1966 (most dated 1957-1962); mimeographed hand-outs for experiments and other assignments; hand-written lecture notes; and a 1944 Canadian Army physics laboratory manual. Many of the manuals are annotated. The manuals are bound, but the notes and hand-outs are loose; all have been placed in acid-free folders. They are arranged by course number, and then chronologically; unnumbered materials, and folders containing unsorted material from various courses, were placed at the end.
Fonds also includes promotional materials, many of which relate specifically to the Department of Physics at university-wide Open Houses, annual reports from the Department of Physics, notes made by Professor John Warren regarding x-rays and particle physics, as well as photographs taken of individuals, groups, and events related to the Department of Physics.

Fonds consists of several essays and one publication. It includes an annotated copy of a paper written by St. Clair-Sobell, an essay about Leo Tolstoy, a biography of Ornest D. Durnovo with related correspondence, and written remarks by a Soviet commentator on one of St. Clair-Sobell's papers. The publication is a course calendar from Karl-Franzens-Reichsuniversitat (University of Graz, in Austria) for the winter semester 1944/45.

Fonds consists predominantly of copies of Douglas Bankson’s plays, scripts and short stories. It also includes photographs from two Bankson plays and of his artwork, as well as different posters and recordings from miscellaneous Bankson productions.

The fonds consists of manuscript material, including text and sketches, for an unpublished work by MacDonald entitled Trees of Canada. In addition, the fonds includes 222 sketches of non-Canadian trees as well as two sketchbooks containing pressed leaves.

The fonds consists of correspondence, reports, and minutes of meetings relating to the activities and programs of the Department of Psychology, and photographs of Department Heads and prominent faculty members. Some records date from before the formation of the Department, when the psychology program was still part of the Department of Philosophy and Psychology. Also included are audio recordings of interviews (with typed transcripts) documenting the Department's historical development.

Included is documentation of his first wife’s grave (in Swedish), his Canadian citizenship certificate dated 1961, CVs, publication lists, lecture notes, newspaper clippings, and a typescript copy of the first chapter of a report written by Ronimois titled Soviet Economic Organization (1951).
