Fonds consists of 370 black and white negatives taken between 1917 and 1924. The images are primarily of UBC students at the University's original Fairview campus. There are also shots of faculty members. As well as posed individual shots of students, there are many photographs of various student activities including the annual class picnic. Although most of the photographs are not identified they are very important for collectively documenting student life at the University in the late teen’s and early 1920s.

Also included are seven heavily-annotated textbooks (copies of Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale, The Merchant of Venice, Coriolanus, Twelfth Night (2 copies), Julius Caesar, and Othello) used in Garnett G. Sedgewick's English courses. The latter items document teaching and note-taking methods from the 1920s, particularly those practiced in Sedgewick's classes.

The fonds consists of records relating to Charlesworth's tenure as secretary of the BCTF and member of the WFEA. His philosophy of education is related in his personal diary, drafts of addresses, and typescripts of two World Federation speeches, "The World Federation of Education Association: Its Past Work and Future Plans" and "Educational Frontiers of the New World."

Fonds consists of records relating to Dr. Harry Mark Draggatt's philatelic interests and contains biographical information about Dr. Daggett including his birth certificate, grade school and high school report cards, University Diplomas, and a number of photographs. The fonds consists of an undated autobiography entitled "Things I Remember," photographs and printed material from the opening of the MacLeod Building (1964) and materials related to his receipt of the McNaughton Medal (1972) for his "pioneering achievement in electrical engineering education in Western Canada."

Fonds consists of a hard-cover autograph book, inscribed on the frontispiece “Helen A. Cook – June 1924 – Anyox, B.C.”. It is filled with inscriptions by Cook’s friends from her times at St. George’s School (1925), North Vancouver High School (1926), U.B.C.(1927), and the Provincial Normal School or “PP.N.S. (1928). In addition to signatures, there are poems, literary quotes, small watercolours, and sketches.

This fonds is arranged into three series that track Symonds' various roles as an urban planning professional. The Urban Education/Teacher in the City series contains records created or received by Symonds while she served in the Continuing Education department at UBC, including her seminal effort to publish The Teacher and the City. The second series, Commissions and Committee Work, details Symonds' service on the Vancouver City Planning Commission and other planning-related committees she chaired or participated in for both the local B.C. context and internationally. The final series, Planning Publications, Speeches, and Writings, focuses on writings or pieces created by Symonds or publications she set aside for her purposes. These date from the early beginnings of her urban planning career in the 1950s to well after her retirement in 1983. The fonds is arranged into series based on Thomas's activities. Records relating to the NDP have been divided into the New Democratic Party of Canada series, the New Democratic Party of British Columbia, Point Grey series and the New Democratic Party Vancouver Area Council series. Thomas was an active member of many activist organizations, and these organizations comprise the Committee to Defend Political Prisoners in Quebec series, the Endowment Lands Regional Park Committee series, the BC Federation of Labour series, the Women's Selection Committee for Women's Health Advisory Committee to the Vancouver Health Board series, and the BC Federation of Women series.
Thomas also kept subject files and correspondence related to her activism that included material from several organizations, or from none. These records have been grouped into series based on the subject, including the Vietnam War series, the Women and Peace series, the Human Rights series, the Feminism Subject Files series, the Anti-nuclear war subject file series and the Labour Activities subject file series.
The fonds contains records from Thomas's time as a professor in the University of British Columbia series. Student essays written by Thomas are in the Student essays series. Thomas's research on Malcolm Lowry comprises a separate series.
Finally the fonds contains the Everywoman's Health Centre series.

Fonds consist of records relating to the organization and operation of the History Articulation Committee, the activities of Dr. Robert A.J. MacDonald as Chairman of the History Articulation Committee and the involvement of Professor William A. Sloan as a representative of Selkirk College and secretary of the HAC. Records include incoming and outgoing correspondence, memos, minutes of meetings, reports, handbooks, newsletters, conference schedules, and newspaper clippings about curriculum and college transfer related issues.

The fonds in arranged into three series: Operational files (1969-2001); Chairman files (1982-1893); and the Secretary files (1969-1999).

Collection consists of materials which deal with two different subject areas of interest to Sutherland. One consists of microfilm records relating to the establishment of the Macdonald Institute, which later merged with two other colleges to form the University of Guelph. The other series consists of photocopies of records assembled by Sutherland for various research projects on the history of education.

Fonds consists of clippings, brochures, correspondence, and photographs relating to Fowler's activities as a UBC student. Also included are programmes from various university events, including the inauguration of UBC's Point Grey campus (1925). The fonds also contains programmes of performances of the UBC Players' Club (1928-1935) and the UBC Musical Society (1923-1933).

Fonds consists of documents spanning Bunce’s career in the forestry sector, covering both his paid and volunteer work. The bulk of the material relates to his work as a forestry consultant at Reid, Collins & Associates and his work on several national forestry committees. Additional material relates to his years as a graduate student, his early career, his involvement with various professional associations, and his years as part owner of a woodlot near Maple Ridge, BC. Also included are articles he published and notes from presentations that he gave.

The archivist removed some documents that had come with the original donation, but that did not have significant value. These included duplicates, published material available elsewhere, personal documents (such as hotel reservations and journal subscription receipts), and loose documents that had no context. Also removed were documents that contained personal and/or confidential information, such as school transcripts of individuals besides Bunce and private documents of company's for whom Bunce did consulting work.

Some works that Bunce had collected, but not authored, were removed from this fonds and added to the library’s general collection.

The fonds consists of family documents (passports, U.S. education degrees), some correspondence regarding his initial business and photographs of the family entering Canada, their home in Vancouver, and the universities in the U.S. where family members were educated.

The fonds consists of two series - Publications and Arts I. The first includes original and copy-edited typescripts for three of Ross's books: Lord Kames and the Scotland of His Day (1972), The Correspondence of Adam Smith (1977), and William Dunbar: A Critical Study (1981). The Arts I series consists of minutes, correspondence, reports and printed material arising from the establishment and assessment of the program.

It includes 80 5 ¼ inch computer floppy disks containing different versions in digital format of Slater's works of fiction dating from 1981 to 1998. All digital manuscripts were originally typed in plain-text format on DOS 3.1 or 3.2. The fonds also includes a heavily-annotated copy of the second (2003) edition of Slater's Orwell: The Road To Airstrip One.

The publication is a course calendar from Karl-Franzens-Reichsuniversitat (University of Graz, in Austria) for the winter semester 1944/45.

The fonds consists of Coulthard's incoming family and general correspondence, correspondence from noted English composer Elizabeth Poston, financial records, biographical information, printed material and clippings documenting her involvement in the Canadian and International music communities as an advocate, educator and composer. Also included are original manuscripts of Coulthard's compositions and published and unpublished sound recordings of her work performances. The fonds also contain scrapbooks assembled by Coulthard's mother, Jean Robinson Coulthard, between 1898 and 1929, family photographs, and a photograph album compiled by her father, Dr. Walter Coulthard, depicting the Rossland area (ca. 1902).

In addition to the series listed above, there is one sub-fonds which includes records created by Garrick Chu, a close-friend and colleague of Jim Wong-Chu.

The main types of records within the fonds include correspondence, meeting minutes, schedules, manuscripts, posters and event flyers, photographs, event programs, financial statements and budgets, publications and articles, reports, conference proceedings, and speeches.

The fonds consists of the incoming correspondence to Joan Gillis from a group of young Japanese Canadians she met while attending Queen Elizabeth Secondary School in Surrey. The fonds includes 149 letters and 10 small photographs, referred to colloquially as ‘snaps’ in the letters, sent from a total of 13 different correspondents. The majority of the correspondence took place during 1942 to 1946, with different friends writing from farms and work camps in Northern British Columbia, Manitoba, and Alberta. The letters provide insight into the Japanese Canadian internment, which occurred against the backdrop of a larger cultural context. Since the early 1900s Japanese immigrants and persons of Japanese descent living in Canada were subject to racially targeted legislation, including limits on immigration, limits on fishing licenses, and being denied the right to vote based on racial status.

In the spring of 1941 the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) fingerprinted and registered all Japanese Canadians over the age 16, who were required to carry identification cards until 1949. Following Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941, Canada declared war on Japan. The Royal Canadian Navy impounded the fishing boats of the Japanese Canadian fishing community, and within two months 1,200 Japanese Canadian owned boats were sold. On February 24th 1942 the federal government authorized the removal of all persons of Japanese origin, and gave the RCMP the power to search without warrant, to impose a dawn to dusk curfew, and to confiscate all cars, radios, firearms, and cameras. Mass forced dispersal and dispossession ensued, with all Japanese Canadians being sent to internment camps, to work on farms, and perform other forms of hard labor, living in very poor conditions through the much colder winters of Canada’s interior.
The letter-writers discuss their day-to-day life at the camps, living and working conditions, their new schools and teachers, and ask after Gillis’ life in Surrey and the on-goings at Queen Elizabeth (Q.E.) secondary school.
Gillis kept the correspondence bound in twine or ribbon, which is also included in the fonds. A government censor opened and read many, if not all of the letters, and many of the envelopes bear a sticker or stamp marking this. Many of the letters are hand-written, some are typed, and some are written on postcards. Listed at the file level is the full name of each correspondent and his or her specific geographical location.

Fonds consists of photocopies of the wills of Emily Carr (1945) and Ira Dilworth (1954), regarding the ownership of Carr's copyright. The fonds also includes correspondence (1967-1983) from artist Gordon Smith addressed to John Parnall and his family, as well as printed material regarding Smith. Also included are Parnall's certificates of service from the Pacific Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.
