Documentation from 1970 with the film suggests the film was borrowed from UBC Audio-Visual Services Extension Department by Dr. Shotaro Iida for use by the Dalai Lama.

The collection consists of research material created or collected by Olof Seaholm pertaining to Swedish immigration and organizations to Canada and North America. The collection mainly consists of general research material related to these themes, but there is some more specialized research into specific areas of Swedish Canadian history, such as the Scandinavian Central Committee and the International Order of Good Templars. Textual records in this collection include minute books, clippings, a constitution, correspondence, research notes, newspaper and magazine issues and clippings, books, and photographs documenting Swedish communities in British Columbia and research material about Swedish activities in North America.

The collection contains four series related to Seaholm's research. They include the Swedish Canadian research material series; Scandinavian Central Committee series; Independent Order of Good Templars series; and the Swedish Canadian Rest Home material series.

The fonds consists of materials pertaining to Stanton's career as a lawyer representing a broad spectrum of industrial unions such as the International Longshoremen's and Warehousemen's Union, International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers (Canada), International Woodworkers of America and the Marine Workers and Boilermakers Industrial Union as well as individual cases relating to the workplace. There are also articles relating to the foundation and activities of various unions, the ILWU in particular, as well as copies of union constitutions and by-laws. There are case records of the ILWU vs. Nissho and Pacific Coast Hydrocarbons, and correspondence pertaining to Harold Pritchett, in particular dealing with his entry into the United States and documents relating to the "Greenhill Park" disaster of 1945. There are also files created by Stanton in representing his clients that formed the basis for his published autobiography "Never Say Die".

Fonds consists of documents related to Stacey's career as a fisherman, historian, writer, researcher, curator, and consultant. Materials include correspondence, photographs, recorded interviews, reports, handwritten notes, clippings, research materials, prints, postcards, ephemera and other documents.

The "Gulf of Georgia files" series was arranged by the records creator and has been respected. All other series have been imposed by the archivist and arranged according to materials that relate to Stacey's roles as expert witness in various trials, historical and industrial researcher, collector and curator, and commercial fisherman, respectively. Where correspondence and photographs were stored separately by the records creator, they have been retained together in series according to their document type; otherwise, file integrity has been respected and these materials may be found in other series as well.

A significant amount of material, consisting primarily of copies of photographs obtained by Stacey from various archival institutions, has been removed.

The fonds consists of family papers including genealogical findings and legal documents concerning land owned by his family in the New Westminster District (Whonnock), 1870-1910; correspondence and newsclippings; records gathered or kept by Spilsbury on Spilsbury and Hepburn Ltd. and its successors in radio communications, 1940-1985; records of Queen Charlotte Airlines Ltd., 1946-1955; and a large collection of ca. 6000 photographs (including cartes-de-visite and cabinet cards) negatives, and slides, mainly taken by Spilsbury. The photographs consist mainly of images relating to Savary Island, Vancouver Island and other area of B.C.'s coast where Spilsbury lived and carried out his activities. As well as images of early native and logging sites and towns and topography of B.C., they also provide a record of Spilsbury's paintings. Photographs also depict Spilsbury's English relatives (1870-1906), friends and family at New Westminster, Whonnock and Savary Island, logging operations at Theodosia Arm in the 1930s, aircraft and personnel of Queen Charlotte Airlines, and equipment and personnel of Spilsbury and Hepburn.

The fonds primarily reflects Spears career as a writer and artist. Some documentation from her youth, such as early artistic works and school papers, are also included. In addition to actual works of art, the records illustrate such activities as publishing books and articles, touring and exhibiting her work. Strongly represented are works which came from Spears presence at meetings, conferences and festivals, which include many drawings of poets and authors. Major accruals of works from the Canadian League of Poets AGMs, drawings of birth scenes, drawings from neo-natal units, and materials from the midwifery trial are arranged into their respective series; one series consists of research notes from Spears novel The Flourish; and the Artistic and literary projects files series contains material from many different writing, drawing and publishing activities. Artworks consist mostly of drawings on paper, with graphite or pastel as the medium. Textual materials include correspondence, clippings, contracts, posters and programs from appearances, and research notes.

John Smith fonds

The fonds contains 14 of John Smiths diaries, starting on July 14th, 1892, and running until December 19th, 1949. (There are no diaries for the periods between March 1, 1901 to May 31, 1903 or February 24, 1912 to December 31 1922.) The first diary records his emigration to Canada and purchase of his homestead. The rest record daily activities and weather conditions relating to operation of his farm, the community, and family life.;A separate diary was kept by Smith when he traveled to the Yukon from March 15 to August 31, 1898. This diary was transcribed by his daughter Olga in the late 1940s. In 1952 this diary was published in the British Columbia Historical Quarterly, with an introduction and annotations by Walter N. Sage. The diary was thought to have been donated to the provincial archives, although no record of the donation exists. A copy of the published article by Sage is included in the fonds. During Smiths absence, his wife Rose maintained the diary recording the daily events of their homestead. The fonds also contains four letters patent appointing Smith to public office, and one letters patent rescinding one of these appointments.
