Fonds consists of laboratory manuals published by the UBC Department of Physics between 1949 and 1966 (most dated 1957-1962); mimeographed hand-outs for experiments and other assignments; hand-written lecture notes; and a 1944 Canadian Army physics laboratory manual. The Women's Research Centre fonds consists of eleven series. The records deal with various aspects of women's lives and focus on racial, class, and gendered issues such as pay equity, women in the labour force, sexual harassment, immigration and the gendered effects of cultural transition, isolation, women's health and the Tobacco Industry, wife battering, sexual assault, and the strengths and weaknesses of women's shelters, women and the law, political responses to women's situation, and the development of strategies for changing women's lives. In addition, the Women's Research Centre fonds contains administrative records of the organization. Multiple-media records were created and used by the Women's Research Centre in the course of their research such as textual records, canvass banners, publications, maps, newspapers and newspaper clippings. Records created and used by the Women's Research Centre include the Women's Research Centre and BC Women's Studies Association constitution and mission statement, contracts, grant applications, project proposals, various research guides, surveys, statistics, various outlines, budgets, address lists, handwritten and typed notes, correspondence, facsimiles, discussion papers, extensive interdisciplinary manuscripts and abstracts created by members of the BC Women's Studies Association, extensive questionnaires and interview transcripts, drafts, reports, agendas, memos, briefs, meeting minutes, bulletins, press releases, various financial materials such as bills, receipts, expense claim forms, cheque stubs, invoices, and income and expense sheets, workshop registration and evaluation forms, membership application forms, newspapers, pamphlets, brochures, newsletters, articles, books, log books, bibliographies, purchase orders, literature reviews, and maps.

This fonds consists of correspondence, minutes, reports, financial records, published materials and clippings, legal contracts and photographs created or acquired by the Asia Pacific Business Institute and document the administrative and financial activities of the organization. The records are arranged in the following series: Administrative, Clippings and Publications, Committees, Taskforces and Conferences, Correspondence, Financial, Organizational History, Legal, and Photographs.

The fonds consist of various committees' records associated with CICSR between 1986 and 1996. These are advisory committees that report on academic and campus computing, science education and continuing education at the University of British Columbia.

This collection contains organizational material and associated publications related to Ken Heibert's activity as a member of the socialist group, Socialist Challenge/Gauch socialiste, and its latter manifestation as the New Socialist Group.

The Alcuin Society Fonds reflects the activities of the society since its creation in 1965. The series consists predominantly of textual records, including administrative records, financial records, reports, correspondence, newsletters and promotional material. Also included are photographs, published material, brochures, and memorabilia. Correspondence is predominant throughout the fonds and in each series it is interfiled with related records.

The fonds consists of records pertaining to Tom Wayman’s literary career and his involvement with the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW). Writing records include juvenalia, published writing, anthologies edited by Wayman, and correspondence with publishers, including royalty statements, book reviews, and legal agreements. Contents also include research materials Wayman collected for his various writing projects and correspondence with other writers and anthology editors. The IWW records include research on the IWW’s history, administrative records such as meeting minutes, publications (promotional and informational), and photographs.

Collection contents include materials related to various lesbian and gay organizations in Vancouver and Toronto, as well as political activities in the New Democratic party, left-wing organizations, presses and radio. The Gay Liberation movement is widely represented, with Labour, Socialist and Marxist, Women’s Liberation, and First Nations organizations peppered throughout the collection. Significant attention is given to Gay Alliance Towards Equality, the John Damien, Gay Tide and Body Politic legal battles, and Anita Bryant. There is also a significant presence of materials relating to CRFO Co-op Radio.

It was collected and donated by James Thomas, Founder of the Archives Collective. Significant donations were made to the Archives Collective by Randy Notte, a writer and gay advocate based out of Victoria and then Toronto and Vancouver; these donations document his wide range of involvement in the NDP and Socialist groups throughout Canada, especially as they have to do with gay and lesbian rights at that time. Files 2-20 to 6-07 are related to Notte’s activities. The collection is divided into two series, Subject Files (1919-1989) and Archive Administration (1979-1989).

Collection includes materials in the form of letters; pamphlets; posters; political materials, including a number of NDP related items collected by Randy Notte; materials relating to the functions of Gay and Lesbian organizations in Vancouver, Victoria and globally; newspapers and newspaper clippings; and other ephemera.

The fonds consists of documents relating to his career in logging, including membership cards in various union organizations; correspondence with Myrtle Bergren relating to her book, <em>Tough Timber</em>, on the history of the loggers of British Columbia; union correspondence, and minutes of some union meetings including a meeting of October 3, 1948 in which a motion was passed to disaffiliate the membership from the International Woodworkers of America (IWA) and form the Woodworkers Industrial Union of Canada.

The records in the first accrual reflect Johnson’s activities both as a leader in the The Lumber Worker’s Industrial Union (LWIU) during the first half of the 1930s and his later activities as part of the Lumber and
Sawmill Workers’ Union (LSWU) and IWA from 1937 to 1963. Included in the LWIU period are detailed financial and membership account books as well as meeting minutes and correspondence relating to the 1934 strike. This accrual contains the following series: Lumber Workers’ Industrial Union series, Lumber Workers’ Industrial Union financial records series, Lumber and Sawmill Workers’ Union (Local 1-7 1) series, Photograph series, Workers’ Unity League series, and Personal records series.

The second accrual consists of records related to Arne Johnson’s activities as a logger and trade unionist. There are two series: Union activities series and Historical controversies series.

The third accrual consists of two files added to the Personal records series: one file contains a variety of personal documents, including Johnson’s birth certificate, marriage certificate, transportation records, and correspondence; one is a notebook consisting mostly of newspaper clippings.

The fonds consists primarily of subject files created and accumulated by Amy Dalgleish relating to various organizations in which she was involved such as the New Democratic Party and the Vancouver Society of Friends for the Elderly as well as social issues such as breastfeeding. The fonds also contain records from Ms. Dalgleish’s 1956 legal case before the B.C. Supreme Court on the right of a woman to use her maiden name on probate documents, as well as correspondence related to her various areas of political engagement.

Fonds consists primarily of material related to Rush's activities as a leader of the CCP, political activist and writer in Vancouver from 1935 to 1996. There is also a personal/biographical series of records which detail the events of Rush's life. Other textual series in this fonds contain drafts of Rush's writings and public speeches, his correspondence, his reports and speeches to party conventions, and his published materials. There is a photographs series which details Rush's various editorial political trips to socialist countries during the Cold War. The memorabilia series also contains material related to Rush's trips abroad. There are pins, medals and commemorative coins from China, Vietnam and the Soviet Union. Finally, an audiocassette series contains recordings of some of Rush's speeches during the 1970s and 1980s.

The fonds consists of records related to British Columbia politician and judge Alexander Malcolm Manson's life. The records in this fonds encompass all aspects of Manson's life and were produced both through his career and in his personal life. Notably, the fonds contains extensive records from Manson's political career, his judicial career, and the investments and trusts he managed. Many areas of Manson's life overlapped considerably, including overlapping careers, and records related to one area of his life may be found among records related to another area.

The contents of this fonds consist predominantly of correspondence, including carbon copies of correspondence sent by Manson. This correspondence pertains both to Manson's career as well as to various parts of his personal life and has been arranged according to the file names used by Manson wherever possible; correspondence that has not otherwise been sorted by Manson has been sorted as "general correspondence," a designation which also includes personal correspondence. Other types of records in this fonds include meeting minutes, court proceedings, financial statements, newspaper clippings, governmental reports, shareholder reports, certificates, invitations and event programmes, and photographs.

The fonds has been arranged into eight series: legal career; political career; judicial career; finances; personal life; Ancient Free and Accepted Masons; general correspondence; and photographs, scrapbooks, and ephemera.

The fonds consists of union membership cards, government documents, union constitutions and rule booklets and a Native Sons of Canada membership card and circulars (1916-1924). Records pertaining to the Native Sons of Canada (Vancouver Assembly) include union newspapers, subscriptions, financial records and personal and labour-related correspondence. The fonds also includes the immigration papers (written in Polish) of a young man and ephemeral material dealing with left-wing politics.

The fonds consists of materials relating to the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) of Vancouver. Included are records of the East Vancouver District Council of the CCF (1949-1951), the cashbook of Cedar Cottage CCF Club (1944-1951), general correspondence and CCF election literature and pamphlets.

The fonds consists of a notebook, notes, clippings, reports, speeches, correspondence, subject files, and printed material relating mainly in his union activities and concerns over safety issues on the job and leadership issues in the union. There are subject files relating to his union trial when he was suspended for actions detrimental to the best interests of the IWA that pertain to the disagreements between the "reds" and "whites" factions within the IWA in the 1940s.

The fonds consists of records created by President Len Norris, including correspondence; published and unpublished reference materials covering a range of topics relating in some way to the Spanish Civil War and/or its veterans; a number of lists from various sources, bearing the names of members of the Mackenzie-Papineau Battalion of the International Brigades, and a small number of official records of the "Mac Paps."

Also included are transcripts of interviews (1975) for the film Salt of the Earth, concerning British Columbia labour history, produced by Starkins.

The fonds consists of correspondence, reports, scrapbooks and printed material relating to O'Neal's activities, mainly in the field of union organization (ca. 1965-1975).

The fonds consists of a typescript of Dent's article on B.C.'s first nurses' strike in 1980, two articles on nurses' collective bargaining, and a staff representative manual for the Registered Nurses' Association of B.C. (1978). Also included is a typescript entitled "The Beginning", which details the history of the collective bargaining of nurses.
