Fonds documents MacLeod’s research on and interviews with early 20th-century B.C. fishermen. It includes audio cassettes, video cassettes, transcript excerpts, notes, articles, and reports.

Audio and video cassettes record interviews with early 20th-century B.C. fishermen. Most interviews were conducted by Ken MacLeod from the mid-1970s to early 2000s, although several are copies from the Campbell River Museum & Archives and the British Columbia Provincial Archives. Interviews are primarily with early commercial salmon fishermen and commercial rodmen, their relatives, and salmon conservation scientists. Interviews address fishing methods (i.e., gillnetting and seine nets), boat types, natural disasters, poaching, salmon management and conservation, and interviewees’ assorted personal anecdotes. Although mainly focused on salmon fishing, interviews also address sports fishing, other types of fish (e.g., cod), seals, and sea lions. Additionally, several audio cassettes are radio show segments related to fish farms recorded by MacLeod between 2001 and 2003. Textual records include partial transcripts of interviews conducted by MacLeod, as well as published articles and reports that MacLeod notes are related to fishermen he interviewed.

The fonds consists of a typescript genealogy of the Elliot family of Swaledale (Yorkshire). It includes typewritten copies of family correspondence and some handwritten additions to the text.

The fonds consists of the Kidd family photograph albums, containing images of B.C. mountains, the UBC Player's Club, Central America, the Great UBC trek of 1922, G.K. Chesterton, family and friends.

The collection consists of diaries (1909-1922, 1924-1961), notebooks, copies of sermons, and miscellaneous materials related to Shimizu’s religious work and personal life. Many of the documents reflect his involvement with church congregations and Japanese-Canadian relations.

Fonds reflects Minoru Kudo’s involvement within the Japanese Canadian community both before and after World War II as well as the Kudo family’s experience of forced removal and its impacts on their lives moving forward. If offers insight into the actions taken by the British Columbia Securities Commission during the process of the forced removal of Japanese Canadian families from B.C. and the advocacy work of Japanese Canadians, as individuals and through groups such as the National Association of Japanese Canadians, to receive redress following the end of the war, both through the The Royal Commission on Japanese Claims(the Bird Commission) and outside of it. In addition to these materials, the fonds also illustrates the work of younger generations of Japanese Canadians to uncover and reconnect with their history. The fonds contains research files from the Kudo family, who worked to document and bring together recollections of the Mission City Japanese community as it existed before the war and where families were for forcibly removed to during it, as well as the Kudo family’s history specifically. A significant portion of the fonds is the translation work done by Kathleen Merken on Minoru Kudo’s diaries.
The materials are arranged into three series, reflecting the different time periods and purposes in which the documents were created. The Minoru Kudo diaries and correspondence series contains the original diaries and correspondence of Minoru Kudo as well as photocopies that were made by Kathleen Kudo for reference and preservation purposes. The translations series contains records relating to the translation of the diaries by Kathleen Merken, research files were used to add context to the translations, and the translations themselves. The family records series contains genealogical research files, files documenting the deaths of various members of the Kudo family, and some personal records of Kathleen Merken that speak to her academic history and work.

Records, mainly in German, related to the writing and artistic career of Kurt Hutterli. Arranged and classified by Kurt Hutterli. The records span from correspondence with publishers, friends and fans about book-projects to notes and manuscripts from various stages of Hutterli's writings. In addition, the fonds contains notes, and materials relating to Hutterli's art-work. The fonds also contains personal records related to family matters and friends as well as Hutterli's job as teacher in Bern.

Fonds documents the administrative, financial and publication activities of the LHA, including the production of the film "For Twenty Cents a Day"; the slide-sound programs "These Were the Reasons..."and "Strike", both about the history of union organizing in BC; and ten issues of the journal "Labour History". Records include meeting minutes, correspondence, financial records and related material pertaining to the activities of the LHA.

Fonds consists of records related to the documentary film which Ewashen directed entitled In search of utopia: the Doukhobors, produced under the name Gemini Cooperative for the Performing Arts. Other individuals involved in the film included Ray Gallon, Koozma Tarasoff and Ken Innes. Records consist of two copies of the film on reels, a shot book containing copies of historical photographs and correspondence, contracts and other textual records related to the production and promotion of the film, and a teacher’s manual and study guide.

The fonds consists primarily of records relating to two specific areas of Larry Wong’s life – his writing and his interest in Chinese-Canadian History. Wong’s writings date as far back as his university days through to the publication of his book Dim Sum Stories: A Chinatown Childhood in 2011. Records reflect Wong’s time as the Director of the Chinese Canadian Military Museum Society and as a tour guide through Vancouver’s Chinatown. The fonds also includes personal documents and ephemera, including information relating to the immigration of both of his parents from China.

The fonds consist of incoming and outgoing letters mainly to Burpees daughter, Ruth Lowe the wife of Rev. John Lowe, copies of Burpees passports, published and unpublished works by Burpee, and a collection of autographs that Burpee had accumulated during his tenure as Ottawas chief librarian.

The fonds consists of the business records created and/or collected by Lazara Press and its founder Penny Goldsmith, predominately from the early 1980s to the late 1990s. The records are loosely divided into two main categories: administrative and publication records. The administrative records contain material documenting the different functions of Lazara Press, including promotional/distribution information, financial records, memberships information, and correspondence Lazara Press had with other printing presses and booksellers in Canada and in Europe. Other administrative records include materials pertaining to projects Goldsmith was involved in, either as a representative of Lazara Press or of her own initiative.

The publication records contain material relating to the publication process of the various broadsheets, chapbooks, volumes of poetry, plays, short stories, and essays printed by Lazara Press. These records include drafts and manuscripts, layouts and prototypes, as well as the published editions of many of these works. Other records include correspondence between Lazara Press and various authors, contracts, promotional information, reviews, and distribution lists.

The fonds consists of notes and personal memoirs, with photocopies of maps carried into World War I battles including the Somme (1916), Messines, Ypres (1917) and Flanders (1918).

This fonds consists of a scrapbook of material about the writer, fly-fisher and conservationist Roderick Haig-Brown. A major section of the scrapbook is an ongoing correspondence between Straight and Haig-Brown regarding fishing and conservation issues on Vancouver Island. There are also numerous photos, newspaper clippings and magazine articles about Haig-Brown both during his lifetime and posthumously.

Notebook containing a copy of "The Totem Poles in Stanley Park" by Rev. John C. Goodfellow, photographs taken from "Potlatch and Totem and the Recollections of an Indian Agent" by W. M. Halliday, and letters and photographs of Vancouver artist George Norris. The notebook also contains a cover letter from Leonard A. Amongst Shepherd's papers are those of his wife, Dorothy H. Shepherd, which relate to her work as an executive member of the South Westminster CCF Women's Club (1942-1959).

These books detailed Copans daily activities (including shifts, positions and remuneration), in addition to which company he was working for. Two series have been created to reflect this information, and include time books and work record books.

Series have been imposed by the archivist according to Reed's roles in Canadian government and forestry legislation, consulting in the private sector, research and instruction in the Faculty of Forestry at UBC, and expert testimony in forestry-related court cases, respectively. Unless otherwise noted, file names and order as they were given by the records creator have been respected.

The fonds consists of material relating to the business activities of Letson & Burpee, Ltd., machinery manufacturers and founders. It includes blueprint plans of machinery used in the cannery industry, ten printed catalogues, correspondence (1893), and photographs and clippings pertaining to the machinery industry including detailed descriptions of fish canning machinery.

The fonds consists of materials relating to the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) of Vancouver. Included are records of the East Vancouver District Council of the CCF (1949-1951), the cashbook of Cedar Cottage CCF Club (1944-1951), general correspondence and CCF election literature and pamphlets.

The fonds contains records pertinent to Lock Tin Lee’s functions as a KMT member, a public school educator, his personal life, and his overall involvement in organizations and affairs concerning the overseas Chinese. Lee’s records offer insight into the political aspirations of the Kuomintang amidst the backdrop of the Second Sino-Japanese War, the Cold War, the Chinese Civil War, and beyond; the public education scene for Chinese Canadians in British Columbia; and the lived experiences of the overseas Chinese in 20th century Canada.

Records predominantly range from Lee’s earlier years in China in the 1920s until his death in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1980. Records include reports, correspondence, notebooks, receipts and invoices, maps, books and bound material, newspapers, greeting cards, song sheets, business cards, badges and memorabilia, stamps and plaques, photographs, poems, flag textiles, and more. Many of these records were created in British Columbia, Canada, but others were generated in the process of Lee’s travels to other countries (predominantly Taiwan) or were received by Lee from other individuals and organizations based outside of British Columbia or Canada. Some records were generated or received by Lee’s family members.

The fonds consists of the texts of two of Telford's radio broadcasts (1935) about socialism and materials collected pertaining to the Joseph McCarthy investigations of Corliss Lamont in 1953.

The fonds consists of materials related to Mabel Taylor's nursing career and international travels. The materials document the professional life and world travel of an independent woman in the first half of the twentieth century. Record types include diplomas and certificates of nursing, travel documents including Taylor's passport and visas, correspondence related to job openings, as well as Taylor's written exam for obtaining a drivers' license in Durban, South Africa.

The fonds consists of records created by President Len Norris, including correspondence; published and unpublished reference materials covering a range of topics relating in some way to the Spanish Civil War and/or its veterans; a number of lists from various sources, bearing the names of members of the Mackenzie-Papineau Battalion of the International Brigades, and a small number of official records of the "Mac Paps."

The fonds consists of minutes, correspondence, speeches and printed material of the Political Committee of the Labour Progressive Party (1957-1966) with various records relating to the League for Socialist Action, Revolutionary Worker's Party of America, Sparticus League, Socialist Workers Party, Canadian Socialist Educational League and American Committee for the 4th International.

The collection contains photocopied index cards of a bibliography of articles, reviews, etc. about Malcolm Lowry. Items that were not included in William New's bibliography on Lowry were copied. The collection also includes O'Kill's notes to the index cards.
