The collection contains materials related to Ian McDonald's Master's thesis research on the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 213 “Class conflict and political factionalism: a history of Local 213 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, 1901-1961," and related to the activities of his father, Les McDonald, a trade union activist who belonged to Local 213 but was eventually suspended for leading the Lenkurt strike of 1966. Les McDonald was also a multi-sport athlete, and is credited with introducing the triathlon into the Olympics; some materials in the collection relate to Les McDonald's involvement in various sport and environmental organizations, as well as some of his personal papers. In addition to what he received from his father, Ian McDonald was also given papers by former IBEW Local 213 business manager Art O’Keeffe and Barry Sharbo, a board member of the Canadian Union of Electrical Workers (UE), as well as Alfie Huston, the former President of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 213 from 1985-1988, which are included within the collection.

The collection is largely comprised of newspaper and photocopied journal articles, correspondence between members of IBEW Local 213, legal documentation, newsletters and other printed ephemera related to IBEW Local 213.

The collection also contains sound recordings of interviews with numerous figures in IBEW Local 213 created by Ian McDonald during his thesis research. McDonald's thesis, submitted for the completion of a Master of Arts in History at Simon Fraser University, can be found in the Summit database: http://summit.sfu.ca/item/6361.

The collection also contains background materials accumulated by McDonald while writing his book “The Red Baron of IBEW 213,” including digital sound recordings of interviews, research articles, notebooks, consent forms, a draft royalty agreement, a draft chapter and a press marketing questionnaire.

The fonds consists of records related to Thomas's activities as a politician, UBC professor, and community activist.
The fonds is arranged into series based on Thomas's activities. Records relating to the NDP have been divided into the New Democratic Party of Canada series, the New Democratic Party of British Columbia, Point Grey series and the New Democratic Party Vancouver Area Council series. There are also separate New Democratic Party Participation of Women Committee and New Democratic Party of British Columbia Standing Committee on Women's Rights series.
The fonds also contains records related to Thomas's activism in many areas. Thomas was an active member of many activist organizations, and these organizations comprise the Committee to Defend Political Prisoners in Quebec series, the Endowment Lands Regional Park Committee series, the BC Federation of Labour series, the Women's Selection Committee for Women's Health Advisory Committee to the Vancouver Health Board series, and the BC Federation of Women series.
Thomas also kept subject files and correspondence related to her activism that included material from several organizations, or from none. These records have been grouped into series based on the subject, including the Vietnam War series, the Women and Peace series, the Human Rights series, the Feminism Subject Files series, the Anti-nuclear war subject file series and the Labour Activities subject file series.
The fonds contains records from Thomas's time as a professor in the University of British Columbia series. Student essays written by Thomas are in the Student essays series. Thomas's research on Malcolm Lowry comprises a separate series.
Finally the fonds contains the Everywoman's Health Centre series.

Fonds consists primarily of correspondence, published materials, and other documentation related to Potrebenko's writing career and publications. Also included are materials she accumulated in relation to her involvement with local labour activism.

The collection consists of two scrapbooks which record events relating to the Vancouver Trades and Labour Council and the Asiatic Exclusion League, Vancouver.

The fonds consists of records relating to Charlesworth's tenure as secretary of the BCTF and member of the WFEA. His philosophy of education is related in his personal diary, drafts of addresses, and typescripts of two World Federation speeches, "The World Federation of Education Association: Its Past Work and Future Plans" and "Educational Frontiers of the New World."

The fonds primarily includes records that were produced and acquired by Greenpeace Canada, such as research and publications to support their campaigns and projects. Notably, this includes jointly produced documents with other environmental non-governmental organizations (ENGOs) to coordinate their efforts in Clayoquot Sound and the Great Bear Rainforest. The records of Greenpeace International within this fonds reflect their broader campaigns to inform people and shape public opinion to oppose the clearcutting of old growth forests in Canada and elsewhere in the World. Records by Greenpeace Canada primarily include their efforts to cooperate with environmental non-governmental organizations, First Nations, forestry companies, and governments to achieve greater protection for old growth forests. The primary types of records include reports, communications, legal advice, court cases, planning materials, photographs, maps, ephemera, and posters. Most of the records in this fonds produced by Greenpeace Canada is from their Vancouver office. The fonds is organized into the following series: Clayoquot Sound Campaign and Protests (1980-2017), Great Bear Rainforest Campaign and Protests (1980-2017), Forest Stewardship Council (1992-2017), Rainforest Solutions Project (1991-2017), Research and Resource Collection (1979-2017), Ephemera and Posters (1993-2016), Maps (1964-2015), and Multimedia (1988-2007).

The fonds consists of records created and compiled by Gladstone Murray and the Responsible Enterprise association. Records are related to the annual dinners (1959-1961) put on by the association, as well as printed materials published or collected by the association. In order to reflect this the fonds is divided into two series: Annual Dinner series and Printed Materials series. Record types in the Annual dinner series include minutes, correspondence and reports. Records in the Printed Materials series include cartoons, newsletters, bulletins, and magazine articles.

The fonds consists of union membership cards, government documents, union constitutions and rule booklets and a Native Sons of Canada membership card and circulars (1916-1924). Records pertaining to the Native Sons of Canada (Vancouver Assembly) include union newspapers, subscriptions, financial records and personal and labour-related correspondence. The fonds also includes the immigration papers (written in Polish) of a young man and ephemeral material dealing with left-wing politics.

The fonds consists of correspondence, financial records, legal documents, subject files, surveillance files, and printed material relating mainly to the union activities of George Gee as a business agent for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Vancouver Local 213, his expulsion from the union by an international representative of the union, and his attempts to be re-instated.

The fonds consists of minutes, financial and office files of the Energy and Chemical Workers Union Local 614 and its predecessors, the United Oil Workers Union Local 3, the Oil Workers International Union Local 614, and the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers International Union Local 16-614. The fonds also includes correspondence and agreements of Imperial Oil Ltd. relating to the initial unionization of workers at the Ioco Refinery, Ioco, B.C. (now Port Moody, B.C.), 1943-1946.

The fonds consists of letters, documents, records and printed material, concerning Starkin's attempts to be reclassified for the American military draft and his involvement with the Vancouver Exiles Association. Also included are transcripts of interviews (1975) for the film Salt of the Earth, concerning British Columbia labour history, produced by Starkins.

Fonds consists of records reflecting Fenton’s activities as the president of the Local 213 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in B.C. and the Executive Board representative of the First District of the Pacific District Council of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, spanning approximately from 1912 to 1913. These records are arranged in chronological order. Textual records in the fonds primarily consist of incoming correspondence from the U.S. to E.Tilford Fenton as the president of the I.B.E.W. in B.C., general circulars and reports from Pacific District Council, and administrative documents of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Personal correspondence of E. Tilford Fenton spans primarily from 1914 to 1915. These records are also arranged in chronological order. The fonds is arranged into the following four series: office correspondence; general circulars; administrative documents; and personal correspondence.

The "Gulf of Georgia files" series was arranged by the records creator and has been respected. All other series have been imposed by the archivist and arranged according to materials that relate to Stacey's roles as expert witness in various trials, historical and industrial researcher, collector and curator, and commercial fisherman, respectively. Where correspondence and photographs were stored separately by the records creator, they have been retained together in series according to their document type; otherwise, file integrity has been respected and these materials may be found in other series as well.

A significant amount of material, consisting primarily of copies of photographs obtained by Stacey from various archival institutions, has been removed.

Within the fonds there are appointment books recording information about Dave Barrett's private and political life, personal records, records created by Dave Barrett in the course of creating his autobiography, records created during Mr . Barrett's political career, and records created during Dave Barrett' s work with CJOR.

This fonds consists of records related to Darryl Adams' activities as a political and social justice activist as well as his personal life. The fonds consists of three series: personal life and administrative records; activism involvement series; and activism collections series.

Records relating to the first series, Adams' personal life and administrative files include: personal correspondence received by Adams; photographs collected, taken of or by Adams'; school records and club memberships memorabilia; news clippings and other articles; and work related records such as research materials and correspondence.

Records relating to the second series, the activism involvement series, include material created or used by groups that Adams was involved in such as the Vancouver American Exiles Association (VAEA), as well as the Galindo Madrid Case of the 1970s. These records include meeting minutes; correspondence; conference, seminar, and workshop materials; materials by or about other communist, socialist, or leftist organizations; papers, articles, speeches, critiques, letters, and reports on related topics; ephemera and publications, such as newsletters, journals, and clippings; and sound recordings such as interviews Adams' gave on behalf of VAEA.

The last series consists of three major collections that Adams obtained over his lifetime. The first collection is the lefty literature collection that consists of newspapers, magazines, periodicals, booklets and bulletins, and other publications related to leftist themes. The second collection is a poster collection and the last collection is a button collection.

The fonds consists of medical claim files, including doctors' certificates, labour codes and correspondence pertaining to Consolidated Mining and Smelting Company of Canada (Cominco) employees in Trail, B.C. between 1946 and 1974.

The fonds consists of correspondence including a letter from T.C. Douglas as well as a large series from Gretchen Steeves dated 1950-1965 relating to her political activities and describing CCF philosophy. Articles, speeches and broadcast transcripts by and about Cameron ranging 1940 to 1968 reflect his political interest and involvement.

The fonds consists of the incoming correspondence of Wo Shou, Wo Sai Jik, and other members of the Wo Surname Association, mainly regarding cannery labour-related business and fundraising activities. It also consists of records and printed material relating to native place issues in Canton, China; the Wo Surname Association in Canton and in B.C.; Chock On business and other activities; and the local Chinese community.

The fonds consists of papers of the Charlton family principally generated by Ormand Lee Charlton and his son Darwin, who in turn functioned as custodian of the records. The records themselves generally relate to the early CCF movement in British Columbia, and other socialist and labour movements across Canada. Papers include information about the Canadian Cooperative Society (Ruskin Mills) and the Industrial Union (Ruskin) in the 1890s. The fonds also includes several copies of the CCF news, the party newspaper, as well as scrapbooks, clippings, drafts of speeches and addresses, correspondence and photographs relate to the family's involvement in socialist politics. The fonds also includes a collection of CCF poems written by Charlton's wife Annie, and essays written by famed socialist thinker Mildred Macleod.

The fonds consists of correspondence, notices, minutes, and clippings recording the dispute between the Automotive Transport Labour Relations Association and the Teamster's Union Local 31 Vancouver (1970-1971) which precipitated the passage of Bill 33. The fonds also reflects the history of Carson Truck Lines and motor transport on the Cariboo Road and Fraser Canyon.

The fonds consists of business records of the Carleton CCF Club (Vancouver), including cancelled cheques, ledgers, bingo receipts and an unidentified photograph.

The fonds consists of minute books of the Guild from 1917 to 1967. The first monthly report of the Guild (March 1918) is included in the first minute book. Minutes of the Western Branch for 1966 and 1967 are also included.
