The fonds consists of photocopies of minute books of the Gay Alliance Toward Equality (1971-1980), photocopies of selected items in the files of the organization and a list of files created by G.A.T.E. The fonds consists of two series: Administrative Files and Subject Files. The Administrative Files series consists of meeting minutes, correspondence, financial statements, and the constitution and policies and principles guidelines for the organization. The Subject Files series contains files of a variety of subjects with which the Gay Alliance Toward Equality dealt.

Consists of George North's research material on the fishing industry in British Columbia, and on the organization of the fishermen's labour unions. The research material includes letters inward and outward concerning his commission by the UFAWU ; his early manuscript, later typescripts, and edited typescripts for the book A Ripple, A Wave; original and photocopied records of Inverness Cannery ; extensive notes taken on the above records and local newspapers . Other material relates to his teacher training at the University of British Columbia. There is also a collection of published material .

The fonds consists of the personal records of Gilean Douglas which were produced and received during her personal and literary activities . It includes manuscripts of poems, articles, short fiction and books ; material generated and collected by Douglas during her involvement with various organizations ; notes and drafts of various writings ; research materials ; an extensive professional, fan and personal correspondence; financial records ; legal records ; lists and inventories ; records of publication ; clippings. There are journals and engagement books dating from 1911, notebooks and address books, and scrapbooks containing clippings of Douglas' published articles and poems . There are also scrapbooks and correspondence generated by her parents dating back to the 1880s. There is a notable gap in records dating from 1929 to 1932.

Photographic records date from the 1890s to the I990sand include prints, framed portraits, slides, negatives and film strips. A large assortment of photos documents her family and childhood. Douglas started taking photographs as a child. By her early twenties she was an accomplished photographer, using her own pictures to illustrate her writings. Photographs taken by her during the 1920s through the early 1940s are for the most part found in the albums. Pictures taken in the 1950s and 1960s fall into 3 main categories : black & white photos of the B .C. coast taken during her trips on the boats of the Columbia Coast Mission, color and black & white photos of communities in B .C. and eastern Canada taken during her trips for the W.I ., and pictures of Channel Rock . Unfortunately the slides and pictures taken on WI trips are unlabelled and for the most part can only be identified as to general location and date. During the 1970s and 1980s the photographs are almost exclusively of Channel Rock. A representative sample of these is included in this series ; others may be found at the Cortes Museum and Archives.

Aside from Douglas' own photographs, there are several interesting groups of other people's pictures in this collection: an album with pictures of overseas service during World War I, a group of labelled photographs of Baffin Island, Pangirtung, etc. taken in 1926/27 by an RCMP officer, and photographs from a trip around the world on a freighter in 1919.

The records offer insight into Douglas' personal history and literary development . They document, in words and pictures, an unusual and interesting life which began at the turn of the twentieth century.

The fonds consists of textual materials, photographs, slides, negatives, sound recordings and memorabilia created and collected during Homer Stevens career with the United Fishermen and Allied Workers Union (UFAWU), as well as in his personal life. The fonds has been arranged into six series according to subject matter: Personal, UFAWU, Mt. Thurston Prison Camp, Printed Materials, Ephemera and Memorabilia, and Newspaper Clippings.

It also includes trial board records pertaining to the Lenkurt Electric Company dispute (1966-1967).

Minutes of the Prince Rupert local and Great Northern Railway Section of Dock Employees for locals 501 and 507 are included. Subject files contain information on foremen's disputes and other strikes. The tapes consist of Canadian Area convention proceedings and caucus meetings. The cassette tapes were generated by an oral history project carried out by members of the ILWU Local 500 which led to a publication entitled "Man Along the Shore".

The collection consists of minutes of the Fraser River Canners' Association (1900-1909) and the British Columbia Canners' Association (1909-1923) and records from their members' canneries: Acme, Albion, Atlas, Colonial, Celtic, Dinsmore, Great West, Imperial, Pacific Coast, Terra Nova, and Vancouver. The collection also includes 25 scrapbooks of clippings (1900-1923) and photograph albums.

The fonds also includes a substantial photograph collection documenting union activities (1944 to 1962), tape recordings, films, charters, badges, official seals and recordings of Paul Robeson Peace Arch concerts (1950s).

There are, in addition, reports of convention, materials concerning wages and conditions in logging camps, a poster, and subject files on various strikes including those at Fraser Mills and Blubber Bay (1933-1944).

The fonds consists primarily of records arising from a Boag Foundation-sponsored conference in 1983 based on the theme "Meeting the Challenge of the Eighties and Beyond." Many of the participants were prominent members of the New Democratic Party. The collection encompasses a wide range of topics including relocation to internment camps during World War II, farming, lumbering, religious activities, and personal reminiscences, as well as various organizational records. Individual collections have been arranged and described separately and filed in alphabetical order. Most of the manuscript material has been photocopied from original documents.

The fonds consists of records relating to the railroad transportation industry and the role of the Canadian Shopcraft Union and railway workers. The correspondence, legal records, union data, reports, newsletters, and other printed material focuses upon the labour movement and the divergent paths between Canadian and American organized labour in the 1980's.

The fonds consists of the records of the Carnegie Community Centre Association's activities and reports for the period 1986-1987. The records include the Board's administration and financial reports and printed material from both the Centre and external social organizations - government and private.

The fonds consists of materials pertaining to Stanton's career as a lawyer representing a broad spectrum of industrial unions such as the International Longshoremen's and Warehousemen's Union, International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers (Canada), International Woodworkers of America and the Marine Workers and Boilermakers Industrial Union as well as individual cases relating to the workplace. There are also articles relating to the foundation and activities of various unions, the ILWU in particular, as well as copies of union constitutions and by-laws. There are case records of the ILWU vs. Nissho and Pacific Coast Hydrocarbons, and correspondence pertaining to Harold Pritchett, in particular dealing with his entry into the United States and documents relating to the "Greenhill Park" disaster of 1945. There are also files created by Stanton in representing his clients that formed the basis for his published autobiography "Never Say Die".

The fonds consists of personal files of the president of the BCTF (1981-1984) which chronicle both the Federation's activity as well as Kuehn's involvement with the labour Solidarity Coalition. More broadly, the fonds documents various aspects of provincial government cutbacks in education.

The fonds consists of records chronicling the development of the Leon and Thea Koerner Foundation from 1955 to 2015. It includes grant applications, reports and related correspondence pertaining to the Foundation's activities. Box 96 contains personal items related to Koerner that decorated the foundation offices.

The fonds consists of records relating to d'Easum's activities, in particular, her work as Executive-Secretary for the B.C. branch of the Canadian Coalition for Nuclear Responsibility, with information about nuclear power plants, uranium mining, nuclear terrorism, disarmament and the international peace movement.

The fonds consists of financial records, correspondence, sound recordings, photographs, subject files and related printed material pertaining to their activities such as workshops, readings, fundraising, and publishing. Most of the files relate to general administration, funding, publications and author subject files that include unpublished manuscripts.

The Lumber Inspectors' Union fonds' consists of records necessary for the union to carry out its everyday operations, such as office files, minutes, financial records, correspondence etc. It also includes papers directly relating to the position of the financial secretary. Record types include correspondence, minutes of meetings, agreements, booklets, policies, reports, constitutions, information on other unions , booklets, financial and operating statements, ledgers, particulars on union members, manuals, arbitration cases, and reference material. The bulk of the records fall in the active period of the Union, which was between 1945 and 1980 ; a few records dealing with winding up the Union were also created in 1981 . The fonds has nine series: Operational files ; Minute books ; Financial records ; Financial ledgers ; Application, dues payment, and transfer records ; Arbitration cases reference files ; Register of attendance at meetings ; General information binder; and General reference material . The fonds also contains the Financial Secretary's sous-fonds, which has five series.

The fonds consists of minutes for the Boilermakers' and Iron Shipbuilders' Union of Canada, Local No. 1 (1943-45) and Marine Workers and Boilermakers Industrial Union, Local No. 1 (1945-77), general correspondence (1956-68), membership correspondence (1960-68), Workmen's Compensation records (1956-75), photographs, transcripts of interviews with pioneer members of the Union, printed material, and draft manuscript for "A History of Shipbuilding in British Columbia".

The collection consists of photocopied correspondence, class lists and course outlines from the Northern Workers' Education Association and the University of Sudbury Extension Department, and photographs and interviews with Western Canadian leaders of the IUMMSW. The material was used in the preparation of his 1985 history of the International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers (Canada). Fonds includes sound cassettes of interviews regarding union history.

The fonds also includes correspondence, subject files, collective agreements and financial records from the union offices in Prince Rupert and Kitimat/Terrace.

Electric Office Employees' Association minutes (1921-1955) and office files (1929-1962); OEIU, Local 378 minutes (1955-1964); OTEU, Local 378 minutes (1964 -1980) and office files (1952-1978); office files for the various B.C. Electric and B.C. Hydro affiliates (1962-1978) and miscellaneous subject files. The latest accession consists of records relating to labour arbitrations between the Labour Relations Board of B.C. and Union employees.

The fonds consists of records pertaining to her life and pottery work in the form of correspondence (1931-1977), clippings, printed material, photographs, and diaries. The fonds also includes information on the Allied Officers Club of Vancouver. Correspondence with her husband, Dr. H.R.L. Davis, includes over 500 letters (1940-1944) and includes information about the Canadian armed forces in Britain.

The fonds consists of photographs depicting conventions or groups (CCF or CCYM), press releases, correspondence, newspaper clippings, publications and a brief historical outline of the Cooperative Commonwealth Youth Movement written by Olga Reithaug. The fonds shows the workings of the CCYM, the issues with which it involved itself, and its relationship with the CCF.

The fonds consists of reports of the proceedings of the first semi-annual convention of the OBU at Winnipeg in January (1920) and the second held at Port Arthur in September (1920). Also included are the results of voting in the OBU locals throughout Canada and brochures on the goals of the organization.
